Development of Vacuum Chambers for the Arc Section of HEPS Storage Ring

  • 摘要: 高能同步辐射光源(High Energy Photon Source,HEPS)是一台束流能量6GeV,流强200 mA,发射度34.2 pm·rad的第四代光源,HEPS光源由直线加速器、增强器、储存环和连接它们在一起的三条输运线组成。其中储存环是HEPS的核心部分,储存环真空系统包括48个弧区并直线节区段,真空盒采用了紧凑型磁聚焦结构及小孔径(内径22 mm)的设计,使用铬锆铜(C18150)、不锈钢(SS316LN)和镍合金(Inconel625)三种材料,单个弧区共24种型号真空盒,其中20种型号使用铬锆铜材料,4种型号使用不锈钢材料,法兰使用镍合金材料加工。本文概述了储存环弧区真空盒的设计及研制的过程,重点介绍了关键技术难点和创新解决方案。HEPS储存环真空系统在国际上首次采用铬锆铜合金挤压成型的真空盒并在其内壁镀吸气剂膜,用来解决真空盒同步辐射光热沉积大,真空盒流导受限的问题。储存环真空系统于2022年6月进行了单个弧区的试安装实验,于2023年11月开始正式安装,并于2024年7月完成。通过对真空系统分段在线烘烤和吸气剂膜激活,平均静态真空达到5×10−8Pa,优于设计指标。

     

    Abstract: HEPS (High Energy Photon Source) is a 4th-generation ring-based light source with a beam energy of 6 GeV and a beam current intensity of 200 mA, and an emittance of 34.2 pm.rad. The HEPS accelerator consists of a linac, a booster, a storage ring, and three transport lines connecting the above three parts. The storage ring is the core part of HEPS. The vacuum system consists of 48 cells, each of which is divided into an arc section and a straight section. The vacuum chambers are processed and manufactured from three materials: CuCrZr (C18150), stainless steel (SS316LN), and nickel alloy (Inconel625), with an inner diameter of 22 mm. There are a total of 24 types of vacuum chamber in a single arc section. Among them, 20 types are made of CuCrZr, 4 types are made of stainless steel, and Flange is processed with nickel alloy. In this paper, the design and development process of the vacuum chambers in the storage ring arc section is introduced, focusing on key technical challenges and innovative solutions. The HEPS storage ring vacuum system is the first in the world to widely use CuCrZr alloy extrusion molding to process the vacuum chambers, and the inner wall of the vacuum chambers is coated with NEG film, which is used to solve the problems of large synchrotron radiation power in the vacuum chambers and limited flow conductivity of the vacuum chambers. In June 2022, we conducted an installation test of the vacuum system for a single arc section. The formal installation of the entire storage ring was started in November 2023 and was completed in July 2024. After segmented online baking of the vacuum system and activation of the NEG coating, the average static vacuum reached 5×10−8 pa, which was better than the design index.
