Experimental Studies of EAST Glow Discharge Cleaning in Magnetic Field

The glow discharge cleaning(GDC) experiment of the EAST in a magnetic field was carried out.The glow discharge breakdown pressure with and without a magnetic field is compared. The results show that thedischarge breakdown pressure decreases with the increase of the magnetic field strength. The research result of dif-ferent numbers of electrodes shows that the discharge in the magnetic field mainly occurs on the wall surface nearthe electrode, and multiple electrodes dispersedly arranged can realize the cleaning of the entire wall surface. In ad-dition, GDC is suitable for operation with different magnetic field strengths, and the removal rate of impurity isweakly affected by the magnetic field strength.
