AC-Driven Quantum Dot Light Emitting Devices: Status, Challenges and Prospects

Abstract
As a new type of luminescent material,quantum dots are considered a promising material for display technologies.Especially,alternating current-driven quantum dot light-emitting devices have gradually attracted widespread attention because alternating current type devices have unique advantages compared to direct current type devices.For the alternating current-driven devices,the damage to luminescent materials,which are caused by the accumulation of charges formed by unidirectional direct current driving,can be avoided;thereby,the lifetime and luminous efficiency of the devices can be improved.Moreover,converter and rectifier are unnecessary,which can reduce power loss and product cost and increase the high commercial value.In this review,according to the situation of external carrier injection,the alternating current-driven quantum dot light-emitting devices are divided into three types:double-terminal carrier-injection light-emitting devices,single-terminal carrier-injection lightemitting devices and no carrier-injection light-emitting devices.The device structure,working mechanism and research progress are provided.Finally,the technical challenges of alternating current quantum dot light-emitting devices are analyzed,and their development trends are prospected.
