Abstract
In order to improve the properties of building structural steel, TiB2 particles were added to strengthen it. The effect of electric current on the microstructure and mechanical properties of vertical electromagnetic stirring was analyzed, and the particle distribution under strong convection was studied. The results show that the XRD curves are similar after the electromagnetic stirring treatment. With the increase of electric current, the number of primary TiB2 particles increases significantly, indicating that electromagnetic stirring has an obvious effect on refining TiB2 particles in the sample. The average particle size of the TiB2 primary phase decreases when the current increases. When the height increases, the hardness also increases, and there is macroscopic segregation caused by gravity. After electromagnetic stirring treatment, the hardness at each height is closer, and the hardness distribution is more uniform. The tensile strength of the sample prepared with 100 A current is 451 MPa, which is 72% higher than that without stirring. After increasing the current, the tensile strength and elongation of the alloy are improved.
