Characterization of Q345B Steel Surface-Modified with Ni60A-YSZ-Al2O3 Coatings

  • The Q345 B steel,a widely used pipeline material in petroleum/chemical/auto industries,was surface-modified with electrodeposited Ni60 A-YSZ-Al2O3 coatings.The influence of the co-addition of yttria-stabilized ZrO2(YSZ) and Al2O3 nanoparticles,on the microstructures and wettability of the coatings was investigated with X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy.The results show that co-addition of YSZ and Al2O3 nanoparticles has a major impact.To be specific,in the Ni60 A-solution co-added with 3 g/L of YSZ and Al2O3 nanoparticles,the porous,less compact Ni60 A-YSZ-Al2O3 coatings grew to a thickness of 19.17 μm(an increase by 6%); and it had the lowest roughness and highest contact angle of 133°.The fcc-structured Ni-Co alloy exist,both Ni and Co clusters formed α-phased solid solution.We suggest that co-addition of YSZ and Al2O3 nanoparticles be of some technological interest in modification of Q345 B steel.
