Interation Efficiency Improvement of L-Band 10 MW Single-Beam Klystron: A Simulation Study

Abstract
The interation efficiency of L-band 10 MW single-beam klystron,was simulated in Core Oscillation Method(COM) and in Banching Aligning Collecting(BAC) method with 1-D KLY software,respectively.In the simulation,the klystron was assumed to operate at 152 kV,101 A and a center-frequency of 1300 MHz.Simulated in COM and BAC method,the interation efficiency,of the klystron capable of generating an output power 11 MW,was calculated to be 73.1% and 72.1%,respectively,being higher than 65% of L-band 10 MW multi-beam klystrons,reported in literature.Moreover,the interation efficiency was also simulated in a self-developed Harmonic Cavity Combination method.The simulated results show that the interation efficiency(72.2%) of the single-beam klystron,with the shortest interation length of 0.75 m,can be as high as that of the newly-developed multi-beam klystron.3-D simulation is under way to verify the 1-D simulation results we reported.
