Applications of Resistance Spot Welding in Assembling Electron Gun for Travelling Wave Tube: A Review Study

  • The latest advance in resistive spot welding(RSW) the constituent parts,of miniaturized electron-gun made of different refractory alloys or ceramics in complicated structure and with delicate positioning difficulty,for travelling wave tube(TWT),was tentatively reviewed.The discussions with specific examples focused on: i) Materials properties,geometry,joints positioning,welding conditions,and evaluation of the welt-joint of the e-gun parts to be welt; ii) Design requirements of e-optics,thermodynamic performance of e-gun and welt-joint quality test in successfully applications of RSW technology; iii) Some experience,advices,suggestions and precautions for RSW applications,reported in literature.In addition,the theoretical/technological development trends,existing problems and possible solutions were also briefly discussed in a thought provoking way.
