Abstract
Herein,we addressed the rotational vibration modes of super-gravity vacuum evaporator, the key equipment for advanced water-desalination plant. The influence of the realistic situations, including the pre-stress,load of sea-water,rotation speed, and mechanical properties of evaporator material,on the vibration behavior was empirically approximated, mathematically modeled, numerically simulated with ANSYS software and experimentally evaluated with the lab-built test platform for design optimization. The simulated results show that the rotation-speed and pre-stress have a major impact. To be specific,a rotation-speed approaching 360 r/min,for example,359.37 r/min,may excite a resonance. The intrinsic vibration modes of the rotation chambers, made of plastics,stainless-steel and Al-alloy,were calculated. The simulated and measured results were found to be in good agreement. We suggest that Al-alloy may be an optimized evaporator material.
