Abstract
Surfaces of 4 Cr13 steel,a material of ring-mold used in biomass fuel industry, were modified with Fe65 alloy coatings deposited by atmospheric plasma spraying to improve the tribological properties. The influence of the deposition conditions on the wear-resistance and interfacial adhesion of 4 Cr13 steel was investigated with scanning electron microscopy and the lab-built test platform. The results show that the iron-based Fe65 alloy coatings with strong interfacial adhesion, synthesized under the optimized condition, significantly improved the tribological properties. To be specific, the coatings increased the hardness of substrate from 525.5 HV to 827.6 HV,decreased the friction coefficient from 0.156 to 0.191,and significantly improved the wear resistance and service life time of ring-mold.We suggest that the surface modification of 4 Cr13 steel be of some technological interest in renewable energy industry.
