Abstract
We experimentally addressed the vacuum drainage of waste construction slurry in single vertical tube and/or square tube-array with the lab-built setup. The influence of the radial distance, depth and dewatering time at 85 kPa on the water-content distribution was investigated. The results show that depending on the tube number, the newly-developed vacuum slurry dewatering with vertical tube (s) significantly outperforms the conventional vacuum mud dewatering, For example, as the radius increased to 2 cm after dewatering for 30 min, the water-content rapidly increased and slowly leveled off, weakly affected by the pressure; for a tube-array, depending on the dewatering time and depth, the water-content had a rippled, symmetric radial distribution because of the impact of the tube array, filtering and gravity. As the depth and dewatering time increased, the radial distribution of water content linearly decreased.
