Abstract
We reported the microstructures characterization of highly porous activated carbon made of coconut-shell, a promising adsorption material for cryogenic adsorption pump installed in Neural Beam Injector. The influence of the microstructures, including the specific surface-area, specific surface-area of micro-pore, specific pore volume and pore-size distribution of the six activated carbon types (labeled as ACs1-6), on cryoadsorption isotherm was experimentally evaluated, theoretically analyzed in BET theory, t-plot and DFT methods. The preliminary results show that when it comes to cryoadsorption, AC1 and AC2 outperform the four other activated-carbon types because of larger specific surface-area, bigger specific pore volume and higher adsorption capacity.Adsorption of AC1 and AC2, in a situation of large amount of gas and long-pulse gas injection, remains to be studied.
